Todd Richesin Interior Designer
Todd grew up in Sweetwater, Tennessee. The arts and significance of home were important to his parents and still are. With their encouragement, Todd began painting and playing the violin at an early age. His first "project" happened by accident. On a trip with his parents to see their interior designer when Todd was seven years old, he found an Oriental rug in the designer's showroom. After much insistence, he persuaded his parents and the designer to come see it, and it was deemed perfect for their library. The rug is still in his parents' library today and has survived the re-decoration of that room three times.
Todd attended Tennessee Wesleyan College, and began working at an upper-end furniture retail store and design studio in the Knoxville area immediately after college. He built his reputation as a skilled designer and artisan in that setting and opened Todd Richesin Interiors, llc in the summer of 1999.
Todd is influenced by classical designers such as Sibyl Colefax and John Fowler, Dorothy Draper, and Mark Hampton. He also finds inspiration in the whimsical work of William Diamond and Anthony Baratta. Todd's philosophy of design is that you start with what you love and build from there. He is an advocate of the "collection." A client's collection gives great insight into what they truly love, and it is always fun to work a collection into a design. Inspiration can begin with a client's favorite color, or a painting, a fabric, or a rug, but it is always initiated by something the client likes.
Todd travels to furniture and accessory markets as well as to many antique shows to keep up-to-date on design trends and new product introductions. He also travels extensively in Europe and is always inspired on these trips with new ideas for projects.
