New Heritage Farmhouse
“What I do affects people’s lives for years. I want to know them so that I can give them something they will love for a long time.”
Lakeside acreage belonging to the client’s family is the site for this special house designed by Todd. Stone-clad, the main block of the house appears to have been added to over time. The two wings give the house architectural heritage, as befitting the storied property, which was once a resort area popular in the 1920s. The house is positioned so that it hovers over the lake and is surrounded by private preserves as far as the eye can see. The compound includes a party barn, but the farmhouse is of modest size, intended to be used during the day for the wife’s dog training business. A quiet, water-inspired color pallet and comfortable functionality define the very personal interior. A pair of custom tables in the dining area ingeniously become one table that seats eight or one table for four and a raised work island. Myriad details speak to Todd’s knowledge and relationship to his clients. The owners love this intimate house so much they spend more time here than at their large, formal home in the city.
